Happy Saint Valentines Day!
I purchased a gift for myself from LimeCrime a few days ago and It made me feel like the luckiest girl in the world when I opened it today! Somebody loves me! (Me)

So, This beautiful(Nicely sealed)  purple box came in the mail today (VALENTINES DAY!) The box is upside down for photos because the top had a nice printed shipping label on it. My room mates gave me a bunch of guff (Phht, Boys, Right?) about my shipment of sex toys.

Inside was a cute FREE advertising piece in the form of a little standee Paper doll, drawn in the likeness of Miss Doe Deere. (The owner of the company and apparently it’s primary ad Model) The artists signature is ITTY BITTY! I would have liked to see a credit line for the artwork printed at the bottom of the sheet, but overall, It has a nice layout.

The Carousel Gloss came in a cute, purple metallic  mint green lined box, wrapped by itself in two full sheets of tissue paper. This really impressed me. I am of the opinion that If I am buying a boutique product for several times the cost of a dupe from the drug store, I would like to see it treated as precious and expensive. (Which it was)

CYOOT TOOB!!

The gloss goes on slick, not sticky and smells slightly like vanilla but not sweet. It’s packed with glitter and pigment. There doesn’t seem to be any foreign particles in it, and the petite brush on the wand is a great departure from the velvet tip wands I’m used to.

(I will post a swatch and full review etc at a later date)

So the Mirror was also wrapped in two sheets of tissue paper, in a pretty “window” box and set on a cut cradle of styro-foam covered in a pretty piece of purple velvet. I can tell by some light scuffing on the box and the high points of the mirror decoration, that they are stored stacked in box possibly in heavy ish piles. However, besides a small bit on the top pearl, there isn’t too much noticeable damage and the glass is clear and unscratched.

I’ve read reviews of this mirror, being “dull” and having bad enamel work. Unless LC has switched manufacturers This seems to be pure subjective opinion. The ANTIQUE GOLD (Which is a valid finish for a pewter cast item, and looks nice with the enamel) frame is very attractive, and fairly bright in even the light of my dingy bathroom. The FairyTale Mirror is heavy and well cast and put up to a light bend/stress test at the handle joint without budging. The faux Pearls and faux Rubies/Garnets are well set and compliment the shape of the frame. There are no rough edges 🙂 and the back enamel is shallow :/ but has nice color. What my phone camera is not picking up is the shimmer/glitter in the color, but it’s quite lovely. All of the speculation about it’s quality seems to be bullshit. I’ve been reading some posts regarding this and it seems that people are really too eager to get stabbity over what is genuinely just ad copy and has nothing to do with the physical product. (Doe’s words about design and development ect. are suspect. But, it’s not a STOLEN DESIGN. The mirror, regardless is produced legally and cast for LC)  And people worried about it denting or breaking immediately out of the box, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU PLANNING ON DOING WITH YOUR $30 HAND MIRROR THAT IT WOULD ENCOUNTER SUCH ROUGH TREATMENT? CAMPING? HAMMERING NAILS? FIXING CARS? OR ARE THEY JUST PLANNING TO BE CARELESS WITH IT TO PROVE A POINT? Regardless of quality, It COST MORE THAN A BIT OF MONEY. It’s a boudoir piece, meant to sit on your counter or dresser top, It should be handled like the expensive object it is and treated gently with respect. It’s not an heirloom piece, and I don’t think I would have bought it if it hadn’t been on sale, however, I have no regrets about buying this adorable ad piece.

If I haven’t mentioned, I adore ad pieces for companies, like the Majolica Majorca Voyage Mirror (which is cheap and made of plastic, Unlike the LC mirror, which is cast pewter)

Overall, I was tentative in the beginning, but had a great shopping and product experience with LimeCrime. I will be buying from them again, the shipping was fast, the packaging was amazing, and I’m pleased with the product. I have a previous post about my feelings on drama, and the social aspects of the owners of companies. Call me unethical, but If it makes me happy, and I feel it was worth my money, thats between me and the product. It doesn’t mean It reflects my personal feelings about the people, whatsoever.

Oh, and anyone who says I got paid to write this review can kiss my squishy white ass 😉
